The End is Coming!

I won’t post my wordcount, needless to say it will take a freakin’ miracle to get NaNoWriMo completed this year.  But I’m not going to stop.  I’ve been writing more than I ever have, and I’m digging it.

I just don’t want to do this:

Greetings from California!  I wish I could post more today, maybe tonight, but first I need to listen to the drone of the server room where I am being kept against my will, and then I need to come up with an Amazing Idea.  Oh look, here’s a whole list of how to come up with Amazing Ideas:

Happy Monday after Thanksgiving.  I’m SWAMPED!

If you’re going to create, create a lot. Creativity is not like playing the slot machines, where failure to win means you go home broke. With creativity, if you don’t win, you’re usually no worse off than if you hadn’t played.

The Boat Lullabies: Nothing That Moves Misses Being Seen

Inscription on the back of a photograph of a baby from The Boat Lullabies: Nothing That Moves Misses Being Seen - which is by far one of my favorite blogs to track on Bloglines.  Check out the link for the cool picture to which it is attached.  Creepy.

Happy day before Thanksgiving! I’m not at work today (woohoo!) but I need to clean the house in preparation for family coming over tomorrow (boooo!).  But I get to make meatloaf for dinner (wooohoo!)  but I’ll have to clean the entire house first (boooo!)

Americans close the book on recreational reading - USATODAY.com

The following article describes a study done by the NEA:

Americans close the book on recreational reading - USATODAY.com

Americans aren’t reading.  Even with the Harry Potter phenomenon, kids are not picking up books.  The results are disastrous - test scores are lower, hell, even if people say “well, the internet….” it doesn’t matter.  Internet reading is ADHD reading.  Kids need to learn that enjoying a book, letting their imaginations run wild without Dolby surround sound and DVD extras is the best way to expand their minds.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to get back to one of the four books I’m reading…

Grub sponsored NaNoWriMo Tonight

Grub-"sponsored" NaNoWriMo get together
Tonight, Monday, November 19th at 6:30pm, a crew of Grubbies who are also NaNoWriMo-ers are all getting together at Remington’s bar, (124 Boylston Street), just a few doors down from Grub Street. They’ll be talking novels, sipping beverages, and connecting with one another. If you’ve been slaving away during National Novel Writing Month, now is the time to come talk to some other brave souls who’ve been doing the same. See you there!
Cheers,
Whitney, Sonya, and Chris (from Pennsylvania)

I will be unable to make it, but I do plan on doing more writing tonight.  I haven’t posted my word count in a while, perhaps that should be on the list of things to do as well…
