Friday….

Ah, another work week is done.  Big game tonight, if the Sox win and the dreaded Yankees lose, we’ll watch the game where we win the AL East.  That wasn’t very eloquent, but I should be working not blogging.

Tomorrow the girls are off to Pennsylvania for their annual shopping trip, which means I’m a free man.

What will I do with my free time?  Shall I go to the Boston Jazz Festival? That sounds like fun, although I don’t know many people who like Jazz as much as I do.

There’s always the What The Fluff festival in Union.  I’ve always wanted to try a Fluffernutter Hero.

Of course, I could be basking in the glory that is having the house to myself.  Or maybe I’ll be going to Avalon for their last hurrah.  What’s going to replace Avalon, anyway?  Probably a dance club with the same "look and feel".

There’s always the possibility that I’ll get lazy and watch TiVo or play Madden on the Wii.

Exciting stuff!

New Challenges

Another chapter in my work life is starting, giving me some new direction and new challenges.  And I’m lovin’ it.  Will I get organized?  Will I have check lists and 43 Folders style organizational skills miraculously materialize?  Probably not.  Will I be a troubleshooter or a troublepreventer?  Only time will tell.  I do know I’ll need my headphones and I need to update my iPod tonight to include the new Vedder album.

I’m probably going to need a new Fall wardrobe.  Will I have to wear ties?  Thankfully I’ll be able to use this instructional video to remember how to tie them.

Speaking of music, I just tried the amazonmp3 service, and I will admit I do like the no-DRM.  Time will tell if it wins me over iTunes.

A good buddy of mine just let me borrow Don DeLillo’s Falling Man which looks promising.  I’ve already read one post 9-11 novel (The Good Life) which was a very good read, let’s see if DeLillo does as well, if not better.

I stumbled across this interesting site:  thepudding which states it will let you make calls to any phone in North America.  An interesting idea, but most of my calls are local (or perhaps as far away as New York) so its not that big of a deal for me.  Most of the companies I either work at or do consulting for are moving to voice over IP, I wonder if free calling will be the future?

The updates to the latest version of Wordpress went without a hitch on all the blogs I’ve been maintaining for friends and family.  I’m currently using Windows Live Writer to post this, and I have to say it works great.  If you want to look at other tools, there’s a nice summary of some of the top ones here.

And… lunch is over back to work.

Upgrade time

I really like Wordpress, but man I hate upgrading so often! Although it is better than getting slammed by spam…

Eddie is Here

The new Eddie Vedder CD arrived today.

It’s pretty good so far!

30 Rock

If you don’t watch NBC’s 30 Rock, well, you suck. One of the funniest shows on television, 30 Rock continuously makes me laugh. I’m not the only one, however. Not only did the show win an Emmy, but someone out there actually took the time to write up all of Judah Friedlander’s silly hat text.

Awesomer.

Here’s Tina Fey.

Vegetarian Awesomeness

Just a quick note to say that I had a fantastic meal last night at a place called The Gate. All vegetarian, and damn it was nice. I’m sure Steph would have written all about it if she had come along. Work sucks, but it was a lot of fun watching UEFA Cup soccer in a bar…. too bad Schalke didn’t make it to the big screen.

Flying again

Now that one stint at work is done, I fear I’ll be traveling more and more.  I’m at Logan right now, waiting to board a flight to London via Dublin.  (I love this Verizon wireless card, it makes the waiting so much nicer).

It’s always interesting to see the excited people - folks who are on their way to a vacation destination.  They are almost always in direct contrast to the business travelers.  World-weary, disgruntled, I wonder if I saw anyone today who is an Internet Celebrity.

The weekend was wonderfully busy.  We were at Friday’s Red Sox game.  Yes, it was so painful I can’t even blog about it.  Saturday was a little party that has caused me to eschew beer and wine for at least another day.

The joys of waking up early

I know its better for you to be an early to bed early to rise kind of person. But I’m already ready for work at 6:50 am. I’ve already read my work e-mail, all I need to do is walk out the door. And yet I still procrastinate.

I am just not a morning person. Hell, even the cats are barely awake. The sun is only just up, and the house is dark.

The joys of working for a living! Where is that lottery ticket? Can’t I get out of this working life?

This picture just freaked me out

The image was on BoingBoing in my Bloglines feed, and … well, its a bit haunting, wouldn’t you say? The original article says that someone found a whole bag of pictures, all from the same person (!) but this one, which was on my feedreader, freaked my shit right out.

Why?
